The crossovers lead the way

AudioControl built this system around second-order Linkwitz-Riley crossover networks, which provide some awesome benefits:

  • A natural transition between the frequencies directed to the woofer and the tweeter, thanks to the network's 12dB per octave slope. This minimal overlap means better sound quality and excellent power handling.
  • Virtual elimination of unnatural peaks and valleys in the speaker's output, so you'll hear exactly what was recorded in the studio.
  • A linear phase response, for outstanding imaging and soundstage.

Awesome build quality

The woofer and tweeter also reflect the care that went into the crossover network. The woofer's rigid poly mica-coated cone moves freely and precisely, thanks to a double-roll surround. An edge-enhanced steel frame houses the cone and provides superior structural strength. The silk dome tweeter comes with hardware for installation, so you can place it in the best spot for optimal sound. Pair these component speakers with an amplifier kicking out 100 watts per channel, and let them show you what they can do.

Features

Tweeter Mounting: The tweeters are designed to flush mount using the included clamps, but they can also mount to many factory tweeter brackets using the M4 threaded insert on the back of the tweeter housing. The tweeters are permanently mounted in their housings and have these dimensions:

  • Depth: 0.864"
  • Height: 0.403"
  • Cutout Diameter: 1.84" (1.875" hole saw recommended)
  • Frame Diameter: 2.11"

Crossovers: Each channel uses separate 12 dB/octave in-line crossovers for the woofer and tweeter, convenient when the drivers are installed in different locations. You can also bi-amp the speakers easily. All the crossovers' inputs and outputs have removable terminal blocks that accept wire up to 12-gauge. The crossover point is 3.5 kHz and each tweeter's high pass crossover has a three position output level switch; choose flat, -3 dB, or -6 dB.

Crossover Covers: If space is an issue, the crossover housings can be removed and the crossovers protected using the included heat shrink covers. The width and depth are reduced slightly and the height is reduced to 0.78".

High-Output Design: The 3Ω voice coil design compensates for the high in-line resistance of small gauge factory wiring, extracting more power from factory (or aftermarket) receivers. This results in clearer, richer sound for the listener.
